Pineridge Hollow Experience

Pineridge Hollow is any girl’s (or boy’s) dream for a romantic meal with charming decor, a picturesque venue, and a cozy atmosphere. It is nestled away beside Birds Hill Provincial Park, 30 minutes northeast of the heart of downtown Winnipeg. I am a sucker for cute places so Pineridge Hollow was the destination of my dreams. I waited a year to go, since last year when my boyfriend and I were going to go on our anniversary, it was raining, so we waited till this year’s anniversary. OH MY GOD. Was it ever worth it! Honestly, I am happy I saved it for a special occasion, but now I feel like I want to go all the time. The photo areas are built for my generation who love finding cute spots to take pics for Instagram or young moms who want every opportunity to show off their adorable kids.

It has a rustic, cozy Pinterest vibe with whitewashed walls and wooden arches constructed outside.

Eat

Pineridge Hollow offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We went for breakfast because we wanted the ambiance of the place, without breaking the bank. Breakfast ranges from $14- $16 which is pricey for breakfast, but the scenery makes up for it. Plus when you wait a year to visit a place, you’re going to pay the damn money and get a latte on top of that, because you deserve it.

The lattes were huge and delicious. When you go out to a restaurant normally you assume you are going to get a small lil mug with a bit of coffee. Not here. They do not skimp on the coffee, thank god. The lattes reminded me of McDonald’s lattes a bit…. not sure if that’s good or bad, maybe they used the same flavoring, but probably a compliment to Donz. They have vanilla, caramel, and hazelnut flavoring and oat milk as a milk alternative (which is the best alt).

There are four sitting areas depending on the time of year: the patio, the porch, the main dining room, and upstairs. We sat on the porch beside the window, but if it was warm enough, we would have opted for the patio as it looked super cute. Prices range from $15 – $85 for lunches/dinner and non-alcoholic drinks from $4- $6 with alcoholic drinks costing $6 -$12. We made a reservation beforehand to make sure we would get a table, but they also take walk-ins.

** If you go for lunch or dinner, please try the caramel apple mimosa and let me know how it is. I wanted to try it so bad but didn’t feel like I could be the only one drinking at 9:30am on a Tuesday, ya know?**

With new COVID restrictions, we wore our masks in the restaurant until we were seated at our table. Any time we had to get up to use the bathroom, we put it back on to protect everyone around us. All the employees were wearing masks as well which made me feel safe.

The decorations covering the walls of the restaurant and shops are all artwork or home decor you can buy. Genius way of advertising their products if you ask me.

Shop

Pineridge Hollow has a huge shop in one half of the building. Think of a mix between Ikea and Forks Trading Company. It has furniture and mock rooms set up, but it has a more unique, homemade vibe and features local products. They also have a large section of women’s clothing and accessories. The clothes look beautiful and are SUPER soft, but they are also pricey. Ugh, sucks that it costs to be comfy AND stylish. If you venture upstairs, you’ll find the baby department. I imagine this is where boujee babies get their style.

Walk

Pineridge Hollow has got the strategy down on how to create a set-up that makes people want to take photos and advertise for them. My boyfriend definitely thought I was psycho because I kept saying “wow this is SO cute” then running around and taking a bunch of photos and making him be in photos with me. Outside they currently have two photo setups for fall complete with a backdrop, a bench to sit on, and of course, pumpkins. The photos don’t stop here though. They have a lot of wooden arches, you know, the ones that couples stand under to get married, twinkly lights in trees, and wooden benches & chairs along trails.

Pineridge Hollow also has a little farm with pigs and goats wandering freely. The best part, THE GOATS HAVE A PLAY STRUCTURE. It was very cute seeing them hanging out on the play structure. While we were eating breakfast, we were looking out the window at a little boy who was rather fascinated with the goats. One of Pineridge Hollow’s staff members had seen the little boy watching the goats and ran from the building to the goat pin to give him something to feed the goats. I saw that and just thought, wow, that is good customer service. She didn’t walk over, she ran when she saw the little boy there. Whoever that was, awesome job.

If you go over the bridge arch and follow the trail you will reach Prairie Winds Self-Guiding trail which goes into Birds Hill and is a 1.5km loop. We would have loved to do this if we had more time.

HOW CUTE IS THIS?! Follow the bridge to the trail that takes you to the start of the Prairie Winds Self-Guiding trail.

Final takeaway: make the trip there. Make your friends go with you, your boyfriend, your girlfriend, your family, whoever. Just go. It is awesome. Enjoy yourself.
